I wrote the other week about how well Starbucks has been doing, well it looks like it’s not getting any better for McDonalds. A new report shows only 20% of Millennials have tried a Big Mac…that’s insane. I get it, but seeing it in numbers is insane. I guess when there’s a million better options, it’s tough to stay relevant.
The growth of the aforementioned coffee chain is one thing, however, they aren’t the only ones. Subway is everywhere, not to mention Wendy’s, Burger King, and Taco Bell. Also, some countries are obsessed with KFC. There’s also local chains to contend with, such as Nando’s here in the UK.
Now it looks like they’ve acknowledged it a bit with announcing three sizes of the iconic burger, but it might be too little too late. There’s been stories for years that the way McDonalds is structured makes change slow, and often very complicated. I mean how long were people clamoring for all-day breakfast? It should have happened years before it actually did. Eating a Big Mac might be the most hipster thing in food now.
