I guess when you grow up somewhere you don’t really notice stuff like this. I mean I always knew hunting was big in Michigan, obviously, but I didn’t realize how much it attracts from outside the state, and the actual dollar figure. It’s pretty incredible that it hits $2.3 billion and its not that long of a season for the most part.
I love hunting from the aspect of providing your own meat, and not contributing to things like factory farms with steroid-laden meat. Its also a great way to enjoy the outdoors and the beautiful country side. The benefit of spending time with friends can’t be ignored either. Since I have left Michigan I have been on the move pretty regular, and some of my best memories were out at hunting camp with friends, where we did much more drinking and card playing than actual hunting.
