Well the long wait is over. Millions doubted it could happen, and those same millions sat there in shock as they watched history in the making. The Vancouver Canucks actually won a game! Ok, last time I pull that garbage.
Anyway, it was a glorious win for a lot of reasons. Was it pretty? Not really, but it sure was nice. We had three players break their goal droughts in Louis Eriksson, Alexandre Burrows (x2), and Sven Baertschi, which I am hoping sparks a trend for at least two of those guys. They also didn’t completely meltdown when the Rangers tied it up at two all, coming back to score two more unanswered.
I thought Nikita Tryamkin and Troy Stecher both played well, which is good with the injuries on defence. There were a few odd-man rushes, which is expected, but both looked to have the awareness of veterans. While the whole roster looked to be playing with a bit more pep and urgency, which is a great thing to see.
I’m not going to rant on and on here, but its nice to see a win, and a fairly quality one at that. I can discuss the Rangers goalie carousel, and some missed chances, or sloppy play, but they just avoided a 10-game losing streak. Also, considering what just happened in my home country, I am trying to stay positive.
